Christ Church (first) is built.

Designed in the Gothic style, the church is located at 1220 River Street. The congregation was established in 1860 and met initially in rented rooms. The first Anglican Church in Hyde Park, the wood-frame building is renovated and enlarged by Cram and Ferguson in 1883. It is replaced by a new building (second) in 1894.* The original building now serves as the parish house.
